When not teaching the next generation of ukulele virtuosos, Daphne Roubini playfully named ”First Lady of Uke”, and Andrew Smith “Duke of Uke” are performing artists.

Ruby & Smith is the New Ukulele duo that is Daphne ‘Ruby’ Roubini and Andrew Smith.
In this band Smith subtly redefines the boundaries of the Ukulele,  Ruby adds her unique voice and delicate melody playing. Together their simple, yet dynamic, interpretations of  jazz, blues, folk and original tunes on two Ukuleles, inspire all those who hear them!

Black Gardenia is Ruby’s vintage jazz band with Andrew on the Guitar.  The Vancouver-based 5-piece whose ‘London Jazz meets Americana’ sound has delighted festival and club audiences on two continents. Playing Jazz, Country, Blues and Folk from the 20s to 50s. Ukulele with Upright Bass, Guitar, Trumpet, Clarinet or Lapsteel.
