Advanced +(plus): Time to shine!

This course is perfect for you: If you have continued at the ‘Advanced : Time to shine’ level once or twice or three times, or dove into your Uke playing like a Banshee! This class caters to the most advanced players of the school, and those who are playing very fluidly personally, may be in bands, or aspire to be in the advanced section of Ruby’s Ukulele Orchestra. You are invited to join this class if you consider yourself to be a ‘ukestar’ in the making (wink, wink) and are ready for it, this is the super highway of classes! You will cover advanced melody playing, strumming, music theory and other very cool stuff! If you want to dive in for one term, splash about and find you prefer the Advanced level because your schedule is pretty tight with life, that’s all good. It will still be here next term!

Repertoire will draw from a catalogue of folk, pop, jazz, blues, and classical music. There’s something to learn and enjoy for everyone. Each term will have a new repertoire of music and is designed to be continued in more than once to really consolidate all the concepts. This level is also designed to assist the advanced section of the Ruby’s Ukulele Orchestra!

Place: On-line in the Ruby’s Ukes Ukulele Zoom Room

This workshop will be presented live, on-line, and interactive in the Ruby's Ukes Ukulele Zoom Room, an experience where everyone gets a front seat, including chart screen sharing and downloadable handouts. Easy to follow zoom instructions sent out in advance make this an enjoyable, fun way to improve your uke skills!

The classes are a weekly 90 minute session and will leave you smiling and a whole lot smarter. The perfect way to keep inspired and have an appointment to play music each week. These classes are all 13 yrs+, and are like a real, live, class with one student attending per registration creating an authentic individual connection with the teacher as well as the class. For your sense of comfort and relaxation, these classes will not be recorded so you can kick back and just enjoy being in class!

You will learn: to play more moveable chord shapes, more scales, advanced chord melodies, 3-part ensemble playing, more complex melodies, solo-ing techniques and theory, fingerstyle patterns, and strum feels. Each term there will be an emphasis on a theme, that changes three times a year. We have consolidated the ukulele module idea within this class. So you can continue in this class as long as you like!! You will play tunes from a repertoire of Jazz, Blues, Country, Classical, Folk & contemporary tunes!

This course will challenge you, so be prepared to practice a lot, learn a lot, and enjoy your Ukulele in a whole new way! It is fun, the pace is faster AND it will definitely push you to your own next personal level. This level is designed to assist those in the RUO advanced section.

Eduardo Garcia: Is the newest member of the Ruby’s Ukes teaching faculty, from Mexico, Eduardo has quickly become a Vancouver Ukulele staple. Being both classically and traditionally trained, he was active in a wide diversity of music projects in Mexico, teaching, performing and writing music. Eduardo played several different traditional string instruments with ‘Amate’, a traditional mariachi band based in Guadalajara, that performs regularly inside and outside of Mexico. Eduardo also played the cello and arranged for the ‘Victor Manuel Medeles’ chamber orchestra. He was the founder/director of the Academia de Ukuleles de la Ribera (Lakeside Ukulele Academy) known for it’s work with local children in the community. Eduardo has graced the stages of Ukulele festivals internationally.

Eduardo brings a gentle, unassuming, classical approach to music and the ukulele, an instrument now very close to his heart. His students love his clear, concise teaching style!
